Erin has been a creative spirit since she first took to the stage as a fetus in Flin Flon. Erin has worked as an actor, playwright, director, producer and Arts Educator for over 15 years. She has taught theatre and drama to all ages and abilities at Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Prairie Theatre Exchange, CMUand in collaboration with numerous community organizations and educational settings. She enjoys facilitating specialty classes that include all members of the community in the process of making dramatic art. Erin worked for many years as a Senior Artist with Learning Through The Arts, The Integrated Arts, ArtsSmartsand many other residencies. She continues to facilitate Professional Development workshops throughout Manitoba.
Erin is proud to act as Chair for the Alliance for Arts Education Manitoba board alongside such wonderful members. As a northern girl she co-created PushPlay Productions – a company whose mandate is to promote and sustain the dramatic arts in rural communities. In the summer of 2009, Erin received a Canada Council for the Arts Award and studied Theatre for Living with David Diamond at Headlines Theatre in Vancouver and has led workshops on social issues with numerous organizations and theatres throughout Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
Erin is thrilled to be supporting staff and students at Wolseley School in Winnipeg School Division as she wears two hats: Arts & Innovation support teacher and teaching Performing Arts to Nursery-Grade 6 students. She is passionate about using all of her experience within the arts to inspire creative citizens in our city and world.

Joe Halas is a visual artist, musician and arts educator. Joe is the Art Consultant for the Winnipeg School Division and has served as the Arts Education Consultant for Manitoba Education Citizenship and Youth overseeing the development of Manitoba’s first-ever comprehensive arts frameworks in Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts. Joe has been a long-serving board member of the AAEM as well as the Manitoba Association for Art Education (MAAE).

Sarah Roche is a professional contemporary dancer and dance educator. Sarah Roche is currently the music and dance teacher at Robertson School. In 2006 she completed her BA hon. in dance from the University of Winnipeg in association with the School of Contemporary Dancers. She has been performing, training and teaching dance since then. In May 2015, Sarah graduated with her B.Ed from Queen’s University.

Dr. Francine Morin is Professor (Music and Arts Education) and Head of the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the University of Manitoba. She is active teaching, conducting research, publishing, presenting at conferences, and serving the professional community in a variety of ways. She recently completed a study of arts education in Manitoba schools funded by Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth. Some of her current work involves serving on the K-12 Arts Education Steering Committee for the province and continuing a research project designed to support teachers in their use of multiple languages in a variety of teaching and learning contexts.

Sylvie Cottee has been working with the Alliance for Arts Education in Manitoba since 2004 as the Coordinator/Consultant. She has worked in various schools in the Pembina Trails School Division as a Library Technician, Administrative Secretary and Teacher’s Assistant.

Jey Thibedeau is one of the founding board members of the AAEM. She has held the position of co-chair, vice-chair, chair, Treasurer, member, and is now serving as Acting Treasurer of the board. Jey is a Teacher at the Garden City Collegiate. She also teaches Drama in Education at the University of Winnipeg.

Velvet Cadre is a middle years and dance educator at Meadows West School in the Winnipeg School Division. Over the last 25 years she has taught integrated creative movement and dance work shops to children, parents and educators. Velvet has always used the arts to facilitate learning and personal growth in all her students. Velvet was also a member of the Arts Implementation team for the Province and for the Winnipeg School Division. She is proud to be part of the Alliance for Arts Education in Manitoba’s collective voice.

Catherine Flynn is a visual artist and art educator at Garden City Collegiate. She previously implemented the ceramics program at Art City, and has also taught art at Windsor Park Collegiate. Catherine has also been involved in the heritage community as an archaeologist and professional artist. She has worked with heritage centers, schools, and aboriginal communities throughout Manitoba and Midwest reviving knowledge of traditional hand built ceramics and creating pottery replicas for museums and interpretive centers. She is a passionate advocate for arts education and also cares deeply about environmental issues which inform her teaching practice.

Jenn is an artist and art educator with 20 years teaching experience in a variety of settings. She currently teaches at St. Johns Ravenscourt School and operates Make a Mark Studio-Classroom-Gallery in the Exchange. Jenn is passionate about creating authentic and engaging art experiences that guide young artists through the creative process. She has recently begun providing professional development workshops on how to create an effective integrated art project. Jenn is excited to have the opportunity to work with the diverse members of the AAEM board.
